| For those of you that venture off the Furness peninsular (a place that featured as a question on R4 Brain of Britain this week....) and onwards to fish at Bolton's Bradshaw a simple rig that brought me some success a couple of weeks ago off peg 26 lake 4 in an emergency services regional match. A 3/4 oz lead running ledger, 12 inch hook length and a hair rigged 6mm Woodlands pellet (forced to buy them at a previous open match) and wrapped in a stiffish paste. Now this is not the conker set up, no its what I call the hazlenut setup, yes keep it small and be patienttttttt keep it in the water for at least 15 mins. Bites are very very positive....Best bit of tackle I have bought this year is a little kitchen electronic timer bought from that cookshop on a sidestreet off Rawlinson st. Its Brill it beeps when 10 mins due and then when 5 mins due. The use of this timer allows you to note when you get a bite and fishing this way you will find outwhenthe fish should have taken the bait. Once you know this you know when to recast. In the match above it was about 12 mins. It also helps to keep you in a regular rhythm of baitng up and casting....
cheers,
