Any chance of a rig section? I only know how to do the very basic bolt rig with the lead release clips, I would love to be able to make, lets say, the chod, or the helicopter rig, or how to use a feeder safely.

Jack it isnt about reading books, it is about confidence. Who taught you? These days with fish safety at the forefront of any anglers mind, should it not be the first thing on yupur mind that what ever you put in the water is not capable of KILLING the fish? Doing what we can to stop this happening should be seen as essential and a flipant attituse like yours should be banned. Do you want me to KIll some fish Jack?

i have to agree that books and mags are the best place to look on rig tips , they always have good clear pic's and descriptions shown in simple step by step guides which are easy to understand. if you need to find out about a particular rig its more than likely easier to google for it !

I would dissagree slightly, i've seen a few totaly unsafe rigs featured in magazines this year, and the internet is an even worse place to look as anyone can set up a website and claim that there new rig is the best and totaly safe. Just ask yourself a few questions regarding rigs. If the main line snaps what will happen if a fish picks up a bait? If the feeder/lead gets snagged what happens when a fish picks up the bait? If the fish cant get free in those situations then your rigs not safe. Pike fishing, if your mainline snaps then you have just killed a Pike as they will pick up and swallow the bait and trace, thats why most sensible Pike anglers these days use at least 50lb braid, they get there trace back no matter what it gets snagged in, the hooks just bend out before the line snaps. But its not just Carp and Pike, care needs to be taken no matter what your fishing for.

If anyone would like to do a rig section with some decent pictures, or a fish care section that we could use on the clubs main website please let me know. Here's your chance to get the message across to new anglers and new members fishing for our fish. Just email me if you fancy doing something like that or something else for the website.

at the end of the day in reality any rig which has anything attached after the hook ie a swivel(which there will allways be because most carp anglers use braided hooklinks with a swivel attached and then joined to their mainline) will stand a chance of catching inbetween rocks, branches or any other obstical in the water, the only true safe rig is your mainline with a hook on the end and nothing else attached but a bait!
